For more than a year-and-a-half, Shimbashi and MJ Santana were the Power Couple of Lions Pride Sports. But as Shimbashi's ambitions grew, so did his selfishness. Soon, he found new allies in Devon DeVille, Mathayus and Prince Ly. In this new force known as Pandemonium, there would be no room for Santana, a fact Shimbashi made painfully clear when he superkicked MJ, ending their long relationship. After a brief hiatus, Santana returned, immediately aiming to get even with Shimbashi and, in the process, take away what mattered most to him: a shot at the Lions Pride Sports Championship.

When Pandemonium made their brutally impactful debut, two of the superstars most affected were MJ Santana, Shimbashi's now ex-girlfriend, and Zane Valero, Shimbashi's most heated rival. In just a matter of weeks, Pandemonium's Mathayus, Shimbashi and Prince Ly had made enemies of virtually the entire Lions Pride Sports roster, but perhaps none more so than Zane Valero, who recruited Hastur and Rodzilla to fight alongside him in six-man tag team action at Fight II Unite.

The Power Couple of Lions Pride Sports had hit a rocky patch in their relationship heading into Battle in Bryan 5. Shimbashi attempted to eliminate MJ Santana from the Aggieland Rumble match in January, but ultimately, MJ tossed her boyfriend from the ring to win that contest. The duo looked to get back on the same page against a burgeoning friendship, the uber popular Zane Valero and Security Guy.

Through rivalry clashes, individual efforts, and alliances formed and dissolved, one wrestler would outlast the others and earn the title shot of their choosing later that same night.

Would Shimbashi find a way to successfully come away with the title, or would Valero survive to reign another day?

While it was born from a post-match attack from behind by Shimbashi weeks earlier, "The Canadian Dragon" promised Drake Durden their bout at Fight to Unite would be clean. Things between the wrestlers hadn't been cordial, but their managers for the night were there for friendly competition. The seven-foot Durden was accompanied by members of KBTX's evening team, and Shimbashi was supported by some of station's morning crew.

A month earlier in his first shot at the title, Mathayus got help from manager Devon DeVille to retain, then brutally assaulted Durden's knee. Having spent time out of action recovering, the seven-footer looked once again to take "The God of Fire's" belt. What resulted included an unexpected, intense match.
